NieR Automata Will Have Multiple Endings, “55 to 60 Hours” For Completionists

During a recent Facebook Q&A session, Square Enix revealed some new information Platinum Games’ NieR: Automata. NeoGAF captured some of the cooler points including the possibility of multiple endings.

Producer Yosuke Saito was asked about how long NieR: Automata would be. He stated that, “To get to the true ending, the team tells me around 25 hours. For completionists, it’ll be around 55 to 60 hours.” That sounds like a fairly hefty experience though it likely includes playthroughs on different difficulties.

When asked about extra costumes, Saito said, “That’s a secret!” However, it does seem like there will be multiple endings. “Of course, but they won’t be unlocked in the same way as the previous game. You’ll have to figure out how to get them on your own.”

Finally, could we see a remaster of the original NieR or a re-release? According to Saito, “There is a very high possibility if NieR Automata sells like hotcakes, yes.”

NieR: Automata is out on March 7th in North America for PS4 and releases later this year for PC.

BattleCry Is Now Cancelled, According To One of Its Developers

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen hide nor tail of BattleCry, the debut game from the studio of the same name. That may be because the game has actually been cancelled. As Twinfinite reports, according to the LinkedIn profile of David Dobert, an Embedded QA Designer at BattleCry Studios, the free-to-play multiplayer game has officially ceased development.

Twinfinite has done some other digging around too, and has discovered that the website for the game, as well as the Twitter account, now no longer exist- the Twitter account was apparently last online in September, while the website was last online in October. It is now clear that BattleCry Studios is working on a new game, one that is also coming to the PS4 and Xbox One- but what exactly that game may be remains unclear for now.

Does the cancellation of BattleCry disappoint you? Let us know in the comments section.

Square Enix’s Second Marvel Game Will Be Guardians Of The Galaxy - Rumor

Remember the multi game partnership that Square Enix and Marvel announced last week? The first game in that partnership is meant to be some sort of Avengers game- but the second one might be taking what is arguably Marvel’s most popular property within the so called ‘nerd culture’ and making a game out of it.

According to a report on Eurogamer, Eidos Montreal is currently in the early stages of producing a Guardians of the Galaxy game- this is in addition to Eidos Montreal also assisting Crystal Dynamics with the previously mentioned Avengers game. Not much else was said about the Guardians game, presumably since it is in very early stages of development, but just the fact that it is being made should make fans happy.

Of course, Guardians of the Galaxy fans will also get the chance to play a game starring their favourite band of galactic misfits when Telltale Games releases its own take on Guardians of the Galaxy this Summer.

Skate 4 Teased by EA Community Manager

Have you heard of Skate 4? The Skate series is fairly popular among previous gen players especially thanks to it occupying the space that the coveted Tony Hawk series once held. However, the last major game in the Skate franchise was Skate 3 in 2010. What the heck has been happening since then?

Well, a whole bunch of people have been using the hashtag “#skate4” whenever possible to remind EA that they want a sequel. Other than that? Not much. That is, until now.

EA senior manager for community engagement Daniel Lingen tweeted out a single term recently. It read simply, “#skate4”.

Let’s be clear though – this doesn’t mean that Skate 4 is actually happening. This doesn’t mean it’s in development. For all we know, Lingen is just trolling but surely there would be some other way to do it rather than, you know, tweeting something that we weren’t sure he was serious about.

What are your thoughts on the whole deal? Is Skate 4 real? Let us know in the comments.

Overwatch Players Suffering From A Strange Health Bug

According to users, the latest patch of Overwatch came hand in hand with a number of bugs and glitches, and one of them, supposedly, has been quite prevalent. One user on Reddit has posted about this bug, in which players actually get just five minutes of health, and judging by the amount of upvotes and replies that post has received, it seems a lot of players are facing similar issues while playing the game.

We can certainly understand why it’s upsetting. Imagine if your doctor tells you you have five minutes to live. Not good, right? Last week we reported that Overwatch players had found another glitch in the game, which basically acts as an endless loop, and if you try to work around it by resetting the game, you lose Skill Points and may even get temporary or permanent bans.

Overwatch now has over 25 million registered players. Stay tuned for more updates on everything Overwatch. Thoughts on thus bug? Let us know in the comments section below.

No New Deus Ex Game For Foreseeable Future

Sadly, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, in spite of being great, was ultimately a commercial failure. Sales fell far short of sales for 2011’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and definitely fell far short of expectations, given the five year long development cycle that Makind Divided went through. And unfortunately, it looks like the Deus Ex series will be paying the price for this failure.

According to a report on Eurogamer, it looks like there is no new Deus Ex game in development for now- with Square Enix’s partnership with Marvel has come a dramatic reorientation of projects that their western studios are assigned on. Crystal Dynamics are working on the Avengers game, which means that Eidos Montreal now have the task of developing a new Tomb Raider game- in addition to a new Guardians of the Galaxy game, possibly. All of which means Eidos no longer has any manpower to work on Deus Ex for now.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that Deus Ex is done for forever- Square Enix may choose to revive it some day in the future, much like they did with Human Revolution in the first place. But at the same time, given the limbo that franchises like Thief and Legacy of Kain find themselves in, that may not be too likely.

Gears of War 4 Social Quickplay Goes Cross-Play on Xbox One, Windows 10

Have you had the desire to crush console noobs like the toxic PvP player that you are? Good fortune has been delivered as Microsoft announced that Gears of War 4’s Social Quickplay mode with now be a cross-play playlist.

For now, cross-play is in the “trial” phase and as The Coalition monitors feedback and data, it will make cross-play support a more permanent feature for Social Quickplay in the future.

It should be noted that Core and Competitive playlists will still remain platform agnostic. You won’t be playing on Xbox One and dealing with Windows 10 players or vice versa, even if a recent cross-play Test weekend indicated evenly matched performance between both platforms.

This is due to The Coalition wanting to keep Ranked matches as competitive and closely matched as possible. More Core and Competitive solutions for Windows 10 users will be introduced in the future though.

What are your thoughts on Social Quickplay going cross-play? Let us know in the comments below.

Square Enix Shares More Details On Upcoming Avengers Game

Yesterday, Square Enix surprised everybody when they announced that they had struck a multi game deal with Marvel to make games based on Marvel properties. However, not a whole lot more details were shared then- today, however, Square Enix and Marvel have both chipped in with some more tidbits on the upcoming initiative.

“The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come. More details on The Avengers project and other games will be announced in 2018,” Square Enix said.

“By partnering with Crystal Dynamics and Eidos-Montréal, we are now working with two of the industry’s most talented and respected game development studios to bring Marvel stories to life in ways our fans have never experienced,” Marvel Entertainment Senior Vice President, Games & Innovation Jay Ong said.

“The Avengers project is a perfect example of how Marvel is making games a key part of the landscape for Marvel storytelling, alongside comics, television and film. We can only do this by matching our greatest Super Heroes with the world’s top developers, such as the creative minds at Square Enix.”

Finally, Square Enix Americas and Europe CEO Phil Rogers said, “Marvel’s diverse, innovative universe has created millions of longtime fans, including all of us. It’s exciting to bring together Square Enix’s award-winning development studios with Marvel’s extraordinary storytellers to establish a new entertainment powerhouse. This collaboration of passion and talent will craft epic, imaginative experiences allowing gamers to live out their Super Hero dreams like never before.”

All of which sounds great- I don’t know if I can wait till 2018 for more information, however!

The Division PTS 2 Will Feature Last Stand, Exotic Nerfs and More

Ubisoft Massive is currently conducting a Public Test Server for update 1.6 of Tom Clancy’s The Division. The update will re-introduce Named Weapons and Gear as Exotic items, Legendary difficulty for missions and much more.

For now, Massive is concerned with balancing everything out and the first week of the PTS has seen its fair share of issues. The developer outlined some of the changes that would be coming in PTS 2 and this includes Last Stand, the 8v8 PvP mode coming in the next paid DLC, being available to play. Gear will be normalized in this mode in the name of competitiveness but the developer will also try the mode without normalization to see how things shape out.

It also confirmed that weapons like Hildr and Eir (formerly the Valkyria) would be nerfed while Hungry Hog would have its signature perk re-balanced to make it work properly.

The SEEKR set will also be adjusted to allow 200 percent headshot damage when landing two consecutive body shots for its four piece bonus. If that weren’t enough, weapons like the Urban MDR and Showstopper would be receiving damage buffs.

The PTS 2 currently doesn’t have a start date but it shouldn’t be long now so stay tuned.

Alice Madness Returns and Shadows of the Damned Now on Backwards Compatibility

Microsoft continues its initiative to bring the best of the Xbox 360’s library on to the Xbox One, via their excellent backwards compatibility initiative. The latest additions to the service include Alice: Madness Returns, the trippy sequel to the original Alice by American McGee. That original game is actually included as free DLC for Alice: Madness Returns, so you basically get both games playable on the Xbox One here.

Alice isn’t the only trippy game being made playable on Xbox One, either- Suda51’s Shadows of the Damned is also now playable on the console. The game, which was a collaboration between Suda, Shinji Mikami (of Resident Evil fame), and Akira Yamaoka (of Silent Hill fame), is an excellent outing- so do be sure to give it a go if you haven’t already.

The final game of this batch is Rocket Knight, the 2010 Sega game. This one wasn’t actually all that great, but if you’ve a hankering for some old school Sega style gaming, it’s not the worst find you could pick up, either.

Destiny Hotfix 2.5.0.2 Releasing in Mid-February, Brings Weapon Balance Changes

Bungie is doing its usual song-and-dance routine of saying much without saying anything for Destiny but it has something planned for the future. In the latest weekly update, the developer announced that hotfix 2.5.0.2 would be coming in “Mid-February” and would finally bring some long-awaited weapon balance changes for the purpose of PvP.

Some of the goals of the hotfix 2.5.0.2 include “promoting alternatives and counters to Shotguns”, increasing the potency of primary weapons, sorting out issues with the classes, fixing problems with a few Exotics and “supporting adjustments to Special Ammunition”. Honestly, the last point just sounds like another nerf to Special Ammo because why not?

A live-stream will be held in the future to discuss and showcases these changes so expect more information soon. What are your thoughts on the hotfix and how badly will they nerf fusion rifles? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information.

Dead Rising 4 Receives New Difficulty, Street Fighter Costumes Next Week

Capcom’s Dead Rising 4 may have performed averagely in terms of critical and commercial gains but it’s still receiving support. A new outfit pack will be out on January 30th as a free update and will include four new costumes from Street Fighter.

So if you’re looking to dress Frank West up as Zangief, M. Bison, Guile or even (shudder) Cammy, then this is for you.

Also worthy of note is how the update will introduce some bug fixes and a new higher difficulty to play it. Health items won’t heal you for as much, weapons break faster and enemies deal more damage. Pretty much the standard fare as far as open world titles go.

If that weren’t enough, a free trial will be live on January 31st, allowing you play an hour of the game. This includes multiplayer and Story Mode, and also allows you to earn Achievements that will carry over into the full game along with your save files.

Ghost Recon Wildlands Videos Prepare Players For Upcoming Beta

The Ghost Recon Wildlands beta is almost upon us and in order to make sure you’re nice and prepped, Ubisoft has released a trio of new videos. These videos, unlike the live action trailer released not long ago, show what you can expect when it comes to gameplay in the beta.

This first closed beta will kick off on February 3 and run through February 6. As you might imagine, there is going to be a limited number of people who get to try their hands at the game.

The developers have been taking signups for quite a while now and the three trailers released yeterday will give those lucky few a good look at the kinds of things they’ll get to try out first hand. The first video shows how you can customize your ghost. The second video shows a bit of The Peruvian Connection, a piece of DLC you can get for preordering the game. The third video gives a wider look at how the game’s open world will work. Ghost Recon Wildlands releases on the PS4, PC and Xbox One on March 7, 2017.

Xbox One Dashboard Losing The Snap Feature

Microsoft has been talking quite a bit lately about its’ upcoming dashboard UI update. One of the details about this refresh that just became available is that it will feature the removal of a function that is one of the more original functions on any console out right now.

Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra confirmed on Twitter that the Xbox One dashboard will soon not have the Snap function any longer. Ybarra said the removal is so that the dashboard will, “improve multitasking, reduce memory use, improve overall speed, and free up resources going forward for bigger things.”

The bigger things have not been made clear yet but there has been some talk about a kind of picture in picture feature. This would be an interesting replacement for a function that allowed people to see their game play alongside a period of time when another app was running. We’ll just have to wait and see if picture in picture is indeed a new addition.

Ace Combat 7 No Longer PS4 Exclusive, Coming To Xbox One and PC As Well

One of the most prominent third party exclusive games for the PS4, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, will now no longer be PS4 exclusive- Bandai Namco have confirmed that the seventh title in the long running flight action series will be headed to the Xbox One and PC as well.

“We’re excited to announce our plans to bring the battle for air superiority in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown to Xbox One and Steam,” said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing at Bandai Namco Entertainment America. “With over 20 years of franchise history, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown continues to deliver authentic yet accessible flight combat action to gamers around the world. This latest version of the game delivers amazing visuals and intense gameplay, all wrapped in a unique and compelling storyline. We look forward to seeing players suit up, strap in, and take their place as ace pilots.”

Given that Ace Combat sells to an increasingly shrinking niche, this is ultimately good news, and a sound business decision- though I can imagine lots of PS4 fans are displeased with the decision. At this point, it is unknown whether the game will support any other VR headsets available on PC or Xbox One, in addition to its VR support for PSVR.

Overwatch’s Capture The Flag May Head to Competitive Play in Future

When Blizzard Entertainment hinted at a Capture the Flag mode coming to Overwatch with the Year of the Rooster event, fans were equally excited as they were curious. After all, Blizzard has staunchly avoided a CTF mode in the hero shooter since it wouldn’t make its heroes “feel like Overwatch heroes”.

What changed with Capture the Rooster then? According to game director Jeff Kaplan in a recent developer update, the mode is only for Arcade mode for the duration of the event.

There are no plans to add it to Competitive or Quick Play. It may head to Competitive in the future if polished even more but as per Kaplan, the mode is purely there for “fun’s sake”.

Check out the developer update video below to see how the Overwatch team managed to implement CTF while keeping various hero abilities in mind and let us know below what you think of the event thus far.

Battlefield 1 DLC “They Shall Not Pass” Gets New Details

The French themed Battlefield 1 DLC, “They Shall Not Pass” is coming very soon now. The way you can tell is that we’re getting a ton of new info about the added content. Among the tidbits that have been released this week are some screenshots that show this title is going to be keeping the theme of what is a very pretty game. The new pack of screenshots shows some new tanks as well as really good looking scenery and we also have a ton of details about what you’ll find in the content pack when it lands.

Among the new info is details about the Verdun Heights, where players will have to fight their way through a massive forest fire. There is also Rupture, where the war rages in what can only be described as a kind of tank graveyard. These maps and more are coming with the They Shall Not Pass DLC soon. Check out the screenshots and the press release below.

Verdun Heights

The opening barrage of the Battle of Verdun created massive forest fires in which players will fight for domination. This is an uphill battle towards the massive fortresses of Verdun. A constant grinding struggle where the artillery never stops. Where the forge and “the Devil’s Anvil” continues to consume even the bravest combatants.

Fort Vaux

The first big engagement inside a fort during World War 1 takes place in the dark underworld of Fort Vaux. Down in the maze of dark galleries and wet stone corridors, French and Germans fight ferociously with grenades, guns, bayonets, and flamethrowers. Watch your corners!

Soissons

Take part in one of the biggest tank assaults of World War 1. The French 10th Army moves to take back Soissons using their powerful Saint Chamond tanks. Planes, tanks, and infantry clash in the beautiful French countryside in the early hours of a hot summer day. Only the thunderstorm is louder than the war.

Rupture

In dire need to capture key bridges across the Aisne river, the French find themselves back into battlefields where poppies grow over a rusty wreck from previous tank battles. It might seem calm but this maze of steel beasts provides an excellent place for those who plan an ambush. As the sun sets over Fontenoy, the battle wakes up.

New Frontlines battle

Experience a mix of Conquest and Rush as you fight for chained control points in a tug-of-war frontline. Both teams fight for one flag at a time and when this objective is captured the action moves on to the next. Capture the enemy’s HQ control point and the game turns into a Rush-style section where telegraph posts need to be attacked or defended.

Pilot A Steel Behemoth

Spawn into the Char 2C tank and control an epic new behemoth. Based on the real-world French tank, this super-heavy beast may turn the tide of the entire battle.

Trench Raider Elite Class
