PS4 System Update 4.05 Brings ‘Improved Performance’ To The Table And Nothing Else

PS4 System Update 4.05 is available to download now, and as is the norm with most of the minor system updates for the console, the only thing it brings with it to the table is some of that stability. Except this time Sony has worded it as ‘improving the quality of system performance.’

Thankfully, the size of the update reflects this, too- it’s just 312MB, meaning it should a blink and you miss it download. So even though there’s no tangible benefit to actually downloading and installing this thing (other than you being allowed to go online again), at the very least you won’t have to waste too much time downloading and installing it either (presuming you don’t have Rest Mode downloads enabled already).

At this point, I think we should all identify the pattern for major PS4 firmware updates, and accept that the next feature rich one is probably going to be next year at the earliest. The PS4 UI and OS is pretty well polished at this point, too, so there’s not much left to complain about. Maybe they can let us change our PSN IDs. That’s about the only major feature left.
