Destiny Hotfix Nerfs Omnigul Farm, Improves SIVA Offering Drop Rate

Destiny: Rise of Iron received a new hotfix earlier today that fixed a few nagging issues with the game since the expansion’s launch. These include the Abomination Heist and Winter’s Run Strikes not dropping rewards at the correct Light level and Echo Chamber appearing in the wrong playlist. Bungie also changed the Omnigul farming method in Will of Crota – now Omnigul will drop rewards once while the Strike is ongoing and will require its completion for additional rewards.

Archon’s Forge has also been somewhat improved. SIVA offerings required to access the Forge will have a higher chance when completing it and you can now complete Quarantine Patrols for guaranteed offerings when killing the Splicer Priest in the second phase.

Other fixes include some players not receiving Gjallarhorn from the Beauty in Destruction quest and Vanguard Rep Boosters not working in the SIVA Crisis Strike playlist. Thoughts on these fixes? Let us know below.

Forza Horizon 3 Tech Analysis: Xbox One vs PC Graphics Comparison

Playground Games’ Forza Horizon 3 is a visually stunning achievement on the Xbox One. Taking place in Australia, the game manages to capture the beauty and essence of down under…from lush rain forests to dense urban areas, Forza Horizon 3 is one of the best looking open world racers of this generation. In an era where the Xbox One has mostly struggled to run AAA games at a full native 1080p resolution, Forza Horizon 3 not only runs at that standard but amps up the image quality with 4x MSAA which results into a clean and crisp image. The game’s frame buffer is limited to 30fps and some may get put off by that due to the genre it’s set in, however one must remember that this isn’t your linear arcade style racer. Forza Horizon 3 is bigger and better in terms of world size and intricate details compared to its predecessor making the 30fps cap sound reasonable.

Unlike its predecessor, Forza Horizon 3 is full of eye popping colors, fantastic looking beaches, huge stretches of crop fields which are all bought to life by the engine’s rock solid streaming solution. You will be driving the latest and the greatest class of exotic cars and reaching speeds of more than 200 miles per hour and even then you will come across only a minor amount of pop in issue here and there. The several hundred in-game vehicles all have extremely detailed interior and exterior which are in turn coupled with a reasonable damage simulation model. As mentioned before, the Xbox One version targets a 30 frames per second frame buffer and according to our observations the game runs at that standard most of the times. This is a testament to the game’s engine which manages to offer a rock solid frame rate despite the improvements and increment to several graphical parameters such as anisotropic filtering, motion blur, foliage density and AI.

The game world is huge in Forza Horizon 3 and it does not compromises at all in terms of visual fidelity, high resolution textures for cars, buildings and structures, and a fantastic physics framework. However, all of this results into long loading times on Xbox One. It’s not excruciatingly long but it can be quite annoying at times. Overall, the console version of Forza Horizon 3 delivers a fantastic racing experience with smooth gameplay, phenomenal visuals and a beautiful world that will suck you right in.

Forza Horizon 3 also marks the first time that a full retail release has made it over to the PC platform. Exclusive to Windows 10 and a part of the fantastic “Play Anywhere” initiative by Microsoft, Forza Horizon 3 promises to have better visuals, performance and higher rendering resolutions compared to the console version provided you have a really beefy PC. But before we jump into analyzing the PC port, let us take a look at the game’s hardware requirements. For 1920 X 1080 resolution, the developer recommend i7 3820 @ 3.6GHz, NVIDIA GTX 970 or NVIDIA GTX 1060, AMD R9 290X or AMD RX 480 along with 12GB of RAM. If you have a higher resolution display and are aiming for 4K image buffer, then get ready to invest into a monster of a hardware. The developers recommend 16GB of RAM, i7 6700 @ 4.0GHz and NVIDIA GTX 980Ti or GTX 1080 or AMD R9 Fury X.

Graphical settings include shadow quality, anisotropic filtering, object geometry quality, reflection quality, car detail quality and the ability to dynamically optimized the game’s performance as per your hardware. Further options include the ability to play the game at an unlocked frame rate, 30 fps and 60fps. It goes without saying that PC players with beefy hardware will naturally like to play the game at a locked 60fps experience, however the reality is quite different. We tested the game on more than a couple of different configurations but before we go ahead, we must note that disabling MSAA is critical if you are looking to achieve higher frame rates…which obviously makes matters confusing given that the Xbox One version already supports 4xMSAA. So coming back to benchmarking…our first two tests were on a GTX 970 and R9 390 GPUs along with 12GB of RAM and i7 3820 and it’s impossible to run this game at 60fps with Ultra Settings with MSAA switched to off. However, when the game is locked to 30fps with MSAA maxed out, we witnessed next to no drops. Given that these are the most popular cards out there, it’s rather disappointing to see none of them reaching 60 frames per second at 1080p. For 4K and 60 frames per second, you would need a Titan X Pascal with MSAA completely off. In short, it’s extremely difficult to run the game at 60fps with MSAA maxed out without any sort of stuttering.

Ultimately it all comes down to this. All the inconsistencies in performance that we mentioned before does indeed tie into the fact that the game’s engine was designed from the ground up for a 30fps console like experience. Whether the game engine will be updated to support various modern GPU profiles for best performance is something that remains to be seen but having said that, the game looks phenomenal on the PC, even at 30fps with all settings maxed out.

The differences between the Xbox One and Windows 10 versions are exactly what you expected. Better car detail, self shadowing, better texture filtering and shadow quality is the norm these days and this continues in Forza Horizon 3 as well. However, we still observed pop ins on both platforms, yet another engine deficiency that seems to be incapable to scale across better GPUs. We have also read reports about noticeable stutter in the city areas and this ties into CPU optimization. However this is something we were not able to verify.

In the end, this trip to Australia is remarkably memorable. We haven’t played a racing game with such high ambitions in open world design, gameplay mechanics and phenomenal visual fidelity and graphics technology. Forza Horizon 3 is in many ways a testament to the the underutilized power of the Xbox One. In an age where the Xbox One has been consistently been criticized for its under-powered specifications, Forza Horizon 3 is one game that really showcases what developers can achieve when you push for performance and take optimization to the next stage. We recommend the Xbox One version over the PC build due to its rock solid performance. The Windows 10 version still needs a bit of work and a couple of patches to stabilize utilization of various GPU profiles. Here is hoping that Playground fixes it soon in the future.

Titanfall 2 Cinematic Trailer Sets The Stage for Campaign

Respawn Entertainment has put a lot of work into making sure Titanfall 2’s campaign actually feels like a proper single-player story this time and it shows. Check out the latest cinematic trailer below which sets the stage for rifleman Jack Cooper’s journey.

Cooper is part of the Frontier Militia and works with BT-7274, a Titan that allies with him when its former Pilot is killed. Together, the duo set out to fight against IMC enemies, dangerous alien wildlife and much more. Level design is fairly open ended and there will be plenty of areas to use parkour to solve puzzles. There are also a few dialogue choices here and there between Cooper and BT-7274 which add further drama to the pairing.

Titanfall 2 is out on October 28th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It recently went gold, which means principle development has wrapped up and it’s being manufactured for disc distribution. What are your thoughts on the trailer? Let us know below.

Mafia 3 New Video Demonstrates More Of Lincoln Clay’s Combat Effectiveness

At this point, I’m losing count of just how many videos and trailers Mafia 3 has had. 2K Games and Hangar 13 seem to have no qualms about potentially giving away everything about the game and leaving nothing for players to discover themselves- maybe they are that confident in the game’s non linear, emergent structure, I suppose.

But hey, who can complain about us seeing more of a game? It’s a good thing we’re being shown exactly what the game is, it means there’s less chance of us being misled and getting the wrong impression about what exactly this game may be, as has been the case with some other recent releases.

This new video continues on from yesterday’s video, and it shows us Lincoln Clay’s combat effectiveness- doubtless, his Vietnam War days have something to do with how much of a one man army he is. You can check out the video for yourself below. Mafia 3 will be out on October 7 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Lost Odyssey Is Now Playable On Xbox One Via Backwards Compatibility

One of the best, and most underrated, Xbox 360 games was Lost Odyssey, the excellent and ambitious JRPG by Mistwalker, directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy. Lost Odyssey was a cult classic, and it as gone on to be fondly looked back on by a lot of Xbox 360 players who played it. It was also a personal favorite of Xbox head Phil Spencer, who openly declared previously that he wanted the game playable on Xbox 360.

Well, now he’s gone and done it- as of today, Lost Odyssey can be played on Xbox One consoles. It joins the list alongside Toy Story 3 and Guwange. Of particular note here is that Lost Odyssey is still not listed on the Xbox Store- it’s compatible and playable now, but only the disc version is. This means you’re going to need to have a physical copy of the game if you want to play it on the Xbox One.

It’s still better than nothing- but a lot of people on the outside who doubtless want to play one of the better JRPGs of the previous generation will be hoping that the game is made available digitally some time soon as well.

Titanfall 2 Will Have The Same Level Cap For Pilots As The Original Game

Respawn may say that they are treating Titanfall 2 as an new IP, rather than as a continuation of the hit Xbox One and PC exclusive original game, but it does sound like they will be keeping some things around from that game for this one. One of those things will be the level cap for the pilots, which will apparently be the same as it was in the original game.

“Pilot max level is 50. Max gen for Pilots is 10 at launch, and will likely increase as time goes on,” a Respawn employee said on the Titanfall 2 sub-Reddit. “Max gen for everything else is unlimited.”

Gen is, of course, Titanfall parlance for ‘prestige,’ which is what you do in Call of Duty once you hit the level cap. So on that front, at least, it doesn’t sound like players of the original game will have much new to contend with in the sequel. Titanfall 2 releases next month on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Hitman Episode 5: Colorado Review – Return To Nature

We’re back at it again with another story arch from developers IO Interactive in Hitman Episode 5: Colorado. This time Agent 47 has come stateside to the lovely, wilderness countryside of Denver, Colorado which is a total sidestep from the exquisite, and often posh city environments we’d seen in previous episodes.

Agent 47 heads to Colorado to track down a hacktivist named Olivia Hall who is a suspect in a bunch of cyber crimes. Soon enough the ICA finds out that Olivia Hall is located in a remote farm that also hosts a private militia training ground, however there is this other target who is the true culprit behind a much larger plot.

"What makes this scenario cool is the tight, cramped spaces the game gives this time around in certain areas."

What made the other episodes so enticing to the eyes were their exotic looks and new destinations not often visited in a video game. From environments that gave us a sense of luxury from many different parts of the world and a pseudo feel of the culture therein, we had a great opportunity to explore the cities, partake in some very open and beautiful estates, beaches, and streets. Colorado on the other hand is a bit drab in its overall look and feel; filled with hay bales, shoddy looking barns, dilapidated fences, and grass that’s in dire need of a mowing. Immediately upon starting up as Agent 47 you will be put into hiding. There’s no time to look around, there’s no time to feel as though time is expendable.

Your mission is to break into the facility of the training ground right away. But what is there to look at isn’t interesting at all. Don’t expect lush environments in this episode. Colorado is a mountainous, open region full of wilderness and wildlife. Sadly, we get put into a military-style locale that is colorless, dull, and pretty much like every video game city we’ve seen a thousand times over. Interestingly enough, the farm does give an ominous, almost twilight lighting effect that portrays a very eerie feeling from time to time.

For those who enjoy military farms, this episode will be for them. What makes this scenario cool is the tight, cramped spaces the game gives this time around in certain areas. Yes, the farm is wide and open, but there are several enemies lurking around every corner. It’s those moments when taking out an enemy then figuring out how to hide that enemy without someone else seeing becomes very intense and adrenaline pumping so your cover isn’t blown. Dragging bodies you need to hide from oncoming enemies is slow, but in a good way. Not knowing if you’ll make it to cover while dragging along a body before a enemy sees you puts you on the edge of your seat.

Changing into the costumes of your enemies and walking around the farm may seem like the perfect guise to exploring the farmland, but be aware of the patrol constantly scouting around looking for any signs of danger. Furthermore, if you don’t wait your turn to take out an enemy, in this type of location especially, you’ll most likely end up in a combat situation that isn’t going to be very fun.

"Hitman Episode 5: Colorado is a fun romp that is actually more sound that the previous episode as it finally gets back to a more familiar setting with a better story."

As for weapons, you’ll still be packing your pistol and choking devices. You’ll find random items lying about such as mechanical tools that can be used for various, interactive things that are fun for a little bit while you’re not in cover and looking to survive. Later on as the game progresses, you’ll run across some fun weapons that are sure to surprise many fans of the series.

What is nice outside of the stale environments would be the wilderness itself. From birds chirping to bugs buzzing. All the sound effects are authentic and give a very real feel to just where Agent 47 is at any given moment. Hitman Episode 5: Colorado is a fun romp that is actually more sound that the previous episode as it finally gets back to a more familiar setting with a better story. For those who’ve enjoyed the previous episodes you’ll pretty much get exactly that: the same thing, albeit in a much duller location.

THE GOOD
Taking out enemies from tight areas is a lot of fun, weapons and controls are great as always.

THE BAD
Colorado itself is a bit bland and not as inventive as the other locations from previous episodes.

FINAL VERDICT
This is a game for the fans. If you loved the previous episodes you'll love this one.

Titanfall 2 4K Gameplay Trailer Features Vicious Combat

Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall 2 will have quite the hefty system requirements when it arrives on PC and Nvidia wants to showcase what the meatier rigs out there will be getting as a result. The GPU manufacturer has released new gameplay footage showcasing Titanfall 2 in 4K resolution at 60 FPS and it’s certainly something to behold.

For everyone else, the gameplay offers a quick look at the various weapons, Titans (including Northstar with its impressive execution animation) and Titan voice lines. The maps don’t appear to be all that different from those seen in the recent pre-alpha tech test but there are enough amazing kills to go around.

Titanfall 2 is out on October 28th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. What are your thoughts on the new gameplay footage or how the game comes across in 4K? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Destiny Nightfall Changed Following Skeleton Keys Complaints

If you were busy running the Nightfall yesterday in Bungie’s Destiny, which was Winter’s Run for Rise of Iron players, you probably didn’t notice the lack of Skeleton Keys. These items are a fairly strong commodity since they open Strike-specific loot chests at Light levels higher than 365.

Players reported not receiving Skeleton Keys as a drop at all and thus, Bungie changed the Nightfall to Fallen SABER. Over on the Bungie Help Twitter, it said that, “We are actively investigating an issue where the Winter’s Run Nightfall Strike is not rewarding Skeleton Keys.”

Modifiers are still the same thankfully and they include Epic, Berserk, Small Arms, Chaff and Airborne. So count on plenty of hopping, jumping and skipping while shooting your enemies with no radar and their lack of stagger.

What are your thoughts on the new Nightfall? Let us know in the comments.

Wasteland 3 Announced, Introduces Co-Op To The Series

Looks like Wasteland 2 was a pretty successful revival of the classic RPG series, and a successful venture for developer inXile. inXile today announced Wasteland 3, the next entry in the original post apocalyptic nuclear wasteland RPG series, due to hit PC, Mac, and Linux alongside – and this here is the kicker – PS4 and Xbox One, also making this the first game in the franchise that hits consoles at the same time as it hits PC.

The new game will be the first game in the franchise that includes co-op, allowing up to two players to play through the entire campaign together. It will also feature a revamped action system, more environmental hazards, the addition of vehicles to the game, and the return of ranger bases. All in all, it looks to be a mix of the familiar with some genuinely new features- just the kind of sequel we need.

Wasteland 3 will be crowdfunded on Fig, where inXile are attempting to raise $2.75 million. No release date has been shared for the game yet.

Mafia 3 New Trailer Invites You To ‘Own The Battlefield’

Mafia 3 is a little over a week away from release, and 2K Games are doing their best to sell us on the next entry in the sprawling open world crime saga. This new trailer for the game, for example, invites us to ‘own the battlefield,’ and shows us how Lincoln Clay, the protagonist of the game, can do just that.

Clay is apparently a veteran of the Vietnam War, and he can use that experience, as well as the weapons that he has at his disposal, to fend off any threats that he may face from criminals and mobsters. The trailer shows us exactly how Clay achieves that, hinting at the kind of action sequences that players can probably expect from the game when it finally launches early next month.

Mafia 3 will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on October 7. You can check out the new trailer for the game below.

PS Plus October Games Are Headlined By Resident Evil And Transformers Devastation

Sony have routinely disappointed with their offerings of free games for PS Plus- which was one of the reasons that their casual price increase for PS Plus earlier this year was received with so much outrage. However, it seems as though the tides may be turning on the free games offerings front for PS Plus - whether or not this has something to do with the price rise is of course not yet known.

Sony have announced their free games for PS Plus subscribers this month, and you know what? They’re pretty good. PS4 owners make out the best from this month’s offerings, with Resident Evil, the HD remaster of the remake of the first Resident Evil game, being made available, alongside Platinum’s Transformers Devastation. PS3 users on the other hand get Mad Riders and From Dust, while Vita owners get Code Realize and Actual Sunlight.

While Vita and PS3 owners may find cause to complain with their offerings for this month, PS4 owners can at last enjoy what appears to be a great PS Plus month, with no strings or qualifiers attached. It’s been a long time coming.

User Theorry is confirming on NeoGAF that Battlefield 1 is now available to pre-load on the Xbox One, a full 24 days before the game actually releases. The pre-load also confirms that the game will be a massive 42.7GB, so you better clear out some hard drive space before you download it.

Battlefield 1 is going to be launching next month on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Yesterday, we received our first look at the game’s single player mode, which will apparently be following an anthology format to better convey the sense of scale of the Great War.

Advertising Standards Agency Launches Investigation Into No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky is now almost two months old, but the controversy around the game seems to have no end. Upon its launch, No Man’s Sky turned out to be a fairly enjoyable space exploration simulator- but in the end, the product was drastically different from what had been advertised in all the months and years leading up to its launch, prompting allegations of false and misleading advertising.

It seems as though those allegations may have some merit, because Eurogamer is reporting that the Advertising Standards Authority in the United Kingdom has launched an investigation against No Man’s Sky purported misleading advertising, with the complaints specifically focusing on the descriptions for the game on online storefronts, as well as the screenshots posted there- specifically, Steam. That said, if it turns out the complaints have any merit, then all advertising for No Man’s Sky, including the PSN Store page, and YouTube trailers, will be affected.

No Man’s Sky is available now on PlayStation 4 and PC. In spite of all the hubbub, it’s not a bad game- and if you went into it with curtailed expectations, you’ll probably find quite a bit to enjoy there.

Destiny Rise of Iron Hotfix Coming at 10 AM PDT

Bungie has announced a new hotfix for Destiny: Rise of Iron. As of now, patch notes haven’t been released but you can expect hotfix 2.4.0.3 at 10 AM PDT/1 PM EST/5 PM GMT/6 PM BST. If you’re in an activity at the time, you’ll be returned to the title screen to download the hotfix.

Fans are speculating that the hotfix could make changes to Archon’s Forge, which is currently less than endearing with the lack of stacking offerings and instant failure if you’re solo, but it’s more likely Bungie patches a glitch in the Wrath of the Machine raid. This glitch allows players to essentially bypass the entire Siege Engine encounter by simply passing through a certain point on both barriers and still receive loot at the end.

Destiny: Rise of Iron is a little more than a week old but players have already beaten the raid, found the new raid Exotic Outbreak Prime and even three-manned the activity. What are your thoughts on the expansion? Let us know below.

The Division Update 1.4 PTS Patch Notes Are Extensive

Tom Clancy’s The Division is currently in rebuilding mode – update 1.4 is currently on the game’s Public Test Servers and Ubisoft Massive have released global patch notes to discuss all the changes.

We’re not going to cover it all (because it’s seriously huge) but some of the more important interface and quality of life features are worth noting. You can now mark certain weapons and gear as “favourites” which prevents them from being sold, dismantled or shared. Weapon skins will no longer occupy inventory space, crafting materials can be converted in bulk, items can be dismantled in the Stash itself and it’s also possible to find a new server should the current one not be up to mark.

After level 30, players will receive double the ammo capacity and Incendiary and Explosive rounds no longer ignite and stagger enemies respectively (instead they’re combined into a single bullet type for increased damage). The map indicator for Rogues will now increase in size as they approach players and Scavenging has been removed altogether. Also, when performing a combat roll, accuracy will be reduced for a short amount of time.

What are your thoughts on some of these changes? You can check out the rest here and let us know in the comments. Patch 1.4 is currently expected out in October for all platforms.

Call of Duty: World At War Is Now Playable On Xbox One Via Backwards Compatibility

Microsoft continue on their quest to make just about every major Xbox 360 game playable on the Xbox One via their excellent backwards compatibility functionality, which allows Xbox 360 games to be played on the current generation Xbox console.

The newest major game to be added to the list of Xbox 360 games that can be played? Treyarch’s Call of Duty: World at War, which is arguably the best World War II era Call of Duty game, as well as arguably Treyarch’s best contribution to the series (I personally feel Black Ops is better). Call of Duty: World at War‘s addition to the list of backward compatible games on Xbox One follows the addition of Call of Duty 3 just last week.

In addition to World at War, Encleverment Experiment, Funtown Mahjong, and E4: Every Extend Extra Extreme are all being added to the list of Xbox 360 games that can be played on the Xbox One as well.

Battlefield 1 Single-Player Details Revealed in ESRB Rating

Though a new trailer for Battlefield 1’s single-player campaign is slated to release today, the ESRB has published its rating for the first person shooter, noting the violence involved but also some of the roles players will take on during the story. Spoilers lie ahead.

While the part about taking place across “various locations” in the war is a given, it seems there will be various characters to control. These include a rebel fighter, message-runner, armour crewman and fighter pilot.

It’s scant but does offer some perspective on how DICE plans to visit so many different locations in World War 1. As for the violence involved, “Battles are highlighted by frequent gunfire, cries of pain, and explosions. Some sequences depict enemies wielding flamethrowers; soldiers can be heard screaming while engulfed in flames. Players can also use knives or bayonets to stab enemies in stealth attacks. Splashes of blood can be seen when enemies are hit; one sequence depicts blood and corpses on a beach after a battle. The word ‘f**k’ appears in the dialogue.”

Battlefield 1 is out on October 21st for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Cyberpunk 2077 to Feature Seamless Multiplayer, “Huge Living City”

CD Projekt RED revealed some rather interesting information about Cyberpunk 2077. In a list of projects submitted to the GameINN program in Poland, which offers a grant for development, the developer noted exactly what it would include in its upcoming action title.

This includes City Creation which the description (Polish translation courtesy of GamePressure) of it being “a complex technology for creating a huge living city, playable in real time, which (the technology) is based on rules, AI, and automation, as well as supports innovative processes and tools for making top-notch open-world games.”

Then there’s Seamless Multiplayer, described as “a complex technology for making unique multiplayer gameplay mechanics, including the ability to search out for opponents, manage game session, replicate objects, as well as support for different game modes along with a unique set of dedicated tools”. This sounds similar to something like Watch Dogs 2 or Forza Horizon 3 where players can join each other’s sessions seamlessly.

Currently Cyberpunk 2077 is slated to release sometime between 2017 and 2021 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. What are your thoughts on these potential features? Let us know below.

Horizon: Zero Dawn New Video Shows Off TGS Gameplay Footage In English

Horizon: Zero Dawn looks to be one of the most exciting and most ambitious upcoming games. Guerrilla Games have apparently graduated from making pretty, but ultimately linear and boring, first person shooters, to an equally gorgeous looking exciting third person open world action RPG- and we can’t seem to get enough of it!

We already got to see a whole lot of gameplay footage for Horizon: Zero Dawn at the Tokyo Game Show, although it was in Japanese, which some may have found to be distracting. Well, the good news is that that exact gameplay footage is now available in English, thanks to Sony having showcased it at EGX.

You can check out the gameplay footage below- the game continues to look as amazing and exciting as it did back at its reveal, and we can’t wait to get our hands on the final product. Horizon: Zero Dawn will be available exclusively on the PlayStation 4 in February 2017.

Battlefield 1’s Single Player Looks Incredible In New Trailer

Historically, there is one thing that DICE have always sucked at- they have sucked at nailing the single player portions of their games, with Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, and Star Wars: Battlefront in particular all disappointing many with their underwhelming and paltry single player offerings. So naturally, people are a bit wary now when it comes to DICE and single player.

That said, DICE at least are doing their best to change your mind on that and challenge your pre-conceived notion with this brand new trailer for Battlefield 1, which showcases the single player campaign in the upcoming game. The single player in the final game may yet disappoint, but if this trailer is anything to go by, it seems as though DICE may have finally nailed how to do good single player modes- and just in time, too, given how much of a waste it would have been if they had squandered this game’s rich setting on an underwhelming single player outing this time around.

Battlefield 1 is due out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC next month.

Jotun Dev Reveals Sundered: First Trailer and Screens Released

Thunder Lotus, developer of Norse mythology-steeped Jotun, has a new game out in 2017. It’s called Sundered and will head to PS4 and PC. A new trailer and screenshots showcase the same amazing art-style and gameplay that defined Jotun and the story features Eshe, a nimble warrior battling the forces of evil in dank caverns.

The development team noted on PlayStation Blog that, “We know Jotun was far from perfect. With Sundered, we’ve added more complex mechanics, tons of replayability, and meaningful choices. We’ve gone into a darker universe heavily inspired by Lovecraft’s writings.”

The gameplay sounds interesting because it could be a case of multiple playthroughs, which each new “life” offering something unique to one’s abilities. “In terms of gameplay, Sundered can mostly be described as a replayable Metroidvania, close to Rogue Legacy and Super Metroid. You explore an ever-changing dungeon, fight hordes of eldritch horrors, and chose between humanity or madness.”

What are your thoughts on Sundered? Let us know in the comments below.

Battlefield 1 Getting Its First Single Player Mode Trailer Today

We’ve had multiple looks at Battlefield 1 so far, and we’ve liked what we have seen of the game every single time. We have even gotten to play the game a bit- but so far, all of our hands on and eyes on with Battlefield have been limited to its multiplayer mode. While DICE have previously discussed the game’s single player mode somewhat, we haven’t actually seen anything of it yet yet.

Well, that changes today. Today, we will get to have our very first look at the single player modes in Battlefield 1. And while one can be optimistic, and hope that the single player modes buck tradition by actually being worth a damn this time around, I shall continue to be realistic, and note that Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, and Star Wars Battlefront all had terrible single player modes, and expect roughly the same from this new game.

Which will be a shame, given its rich setting, but it is what it is. It’s not like anyone actually plays these games for the single player, anyway.

Dishonored 2 Offers “Even More Reason” For Replaying

Arkane Studios’ Dishonored 2 offers a number of choices for players, from the routes they take to the abilities they use and chain together. However, its two unique protagonists offer more than just different abilities. Creative lead Harvey Smith told Finder with how the story changes based on choice, players will something like 25 percent of the experience their first time.

“Every time you play Dishonored 2 it is different as you find different paths, buy different powers, go high or low chaos and play as Corvo or Emily. Also, when The Outsider offers you his mark, you may say no. So previously some people played once, some people played many times, but in Dishonored 2 there is even more reason to play it again.”

You’ll also need to play it twice to understand the story. As Smith notes, “And I think players won’t understand Dishonored 2 till they play it twice. Because there is so much overt conversation that you can miss, and lore to read and even just understanding the environment’s impact on the storytelling.”

Dishonored 2 arrives on November 11th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
